Interestingly, I still haven't received any notification of a recall on my GM for my 2009....

I've owned my 2009 Sky now for 6 months and thought that maybe the DMV records weren't up to date or something because I didn't receive any notification either.....until yesterday.
The road to success is always under construction.

Clearly GM has a different time line for repairs in Canada.

Yeah it's like whenever we get around to it...

My understanding is that the letters went out last week.

It probably didn't get the PR buzz in Canada as it did here in the states so GM is taking their time.

Have any of the European owners gotten any kind of letter yet, Kelu, Arabus, Ironhide?

Letters??? Me??? You forgot that the picture sent by elff was returned in US :(

I bought my car from Germany, I don't think they care about me. In Romania they don't keep track about me if I didn't buy the car from them. I might stop to a dealership and ask if you want.

I bet they will don't know what an Opel GT is, they will ask: "You mean GTC, right?" which is a trim level for astra :)

Are you still in Belgium?

Wasn't the problem with the pictures Elff sent due to no one being home at the address he sent it to?

Today, I received a 3rd letter, explaining the parts were getting manufactured and they were behind and it also stated what parts were going to be installed and yes, the keys were mentioned. :)

Received a letter stating that GM has done extensive testing over numerous road conditions and speeds even high speed and there conclusion is that if the key only is used the key does not move out of the run position.  Says it might take months for parts but also mentions the ignition cylinder defect where it may be possible to remove the key while the engine is running and what to do to get your vehicle fixed Asap.

After reading all the posts, and, yes, I've gotten two letters from GM, I think I'm gonna hold off. My keychain has two housekeys, my Solstice key, Scion key, the Solstice remote, my Colt Python screwdriver/medallion, and my public library, supermarket, and prescription swipe mini cards.  I tried to duplicate a scenario where the ignition would "accidentally" turn off............NOTHING - couldn't duplicate the scenario where it would happen. So, for now, my opinion is 'it's not broken, so don't fix it'.

I would have a major problem if my Westers tune was erased by the former Pontiac Dealer, now Buick/GMC. These would be the same owners, whose used car lot sold my wife her Mini Cooper, then an expensive maintenance agreement, then totally screwed up a brake job which had to be fixed by MINI for 600 bucks.

Thanks for the opportunity to rant.

GM might hsve to expand what brands need fixing. My wife just told me that her brother who has an older Buick Lascerne, has been experiencing his engine shutting off for no reason while driving. I don't know what year or engine he has. Haven't got to talk to him yet. But he took it to a garage and there no codes being thrown. which lead me to believe that it could be ignition switch.
My Precious! 2007  Solstice GXP, Aggressive, Santana Cup Holder, Beachparty Fuse Box Cover,DDM Backbone Brace, DDM Performance Probeam, DDM Latin Venom Brace, DDM Oil Catch Can (Red), DDM LNF Intake Tube (Red), DDM Radiator Hose (Red), Wind Restricter, Solo Performance Mach Shorty Exhaust,...more to come!

I have not been under the car yet but from what I can see it is all over the drivers side of the Diff. I have an appointment next Saturday for recall and look at diff.

NEWS FLASH...CNN just announced on television today 05-22-2014  "GM Recalls more cars than sold in 5 Years"!  This is going to take a long time for potential buyers to flock back to GM.  Yes, indeed it will be a struggle right now for momentum to favor GM and the national attention that is negative certainly does not help...and if I was in the market for a new vehicle I would think twice before signing on the dotted line with all that has happened.  This deal is not going away!  :usa:
