Im not in a hurry now.  Winter is coming soon anyways, and I wont be able to drive it.

lots of stuff to be done, still.   Once we receive the kit, we still have to install everything and see if there are any clearance issues.   Once everything is good.....we will unbolt the kit out....and send all the hot parts to Swaintech for ceramic coating.   That's a good week wait.    Then we'll install it again.

Then once its up and running, we'll have a custom paint job :)

So we're shooting for late this year, and then tuning begins.     Im hoping all the bugs are sorted out by Early Spring 2012.

So the small turbo is what I currently have.
It kicks in around 2800 rpms compared to 2500 rpms of the stock K04

When are you going to kill it's boost and have the larger turbo kick in?

When are you going to kill it's boost and have the larger turbo kick in?

it depends bro.

Back pressure of the system will really be the determining factor.

Kevin Jewer with the DSM compound turbo set-up (my guru) for example sets his small turbo's wg at 19psi.   It spools at 19psi.  But his big tubo's back pressure (9 psi) causes the small turbo to boost at 28psi.    So basically, once both turbos are spooling together via compound set-up, the small turbo will eventually reach 28psi.

so to answer your question,  I will only be using a 14psi spring on my 60mm wg for my small turbo.    If my big turbo has a back pressure of 10psi, it will cause my small turbo to boost at 24psi even though I set the wg at 14psi.

If the big turbo produces more back pressure, the small turbo will produce more boost thus making it closer to a Pressure Ratio of 2:1

but at the beginning once the small turbo  spools at 14psi....it will start releasing exhaust gases (via 60mm wg) to the big turbo.   Once the big turbo starts producing boost and starts cooking.......back pressure will be created, causing the small turbo to be around 24psi.

the back pressure will greatly be affected by the system's air flow characteristics, total air flow....and etc......

I'll be learning more about this once we start tuning.   So we'll see what happens

I need a roll cage first.

They already know my car a few years ago at New England Dragway in New Hampshire.  Goot booted out twice on two different occassions.  The officials over there already warned me that me and my car will get banned if I try running without a roll cage.
They are very strict there and won't allow a convertible in the 12-13.99sec bracket to run without a roll cage.

It's the nearest drag strip in RI, unfortunately.

I'm planning to go to school and learn how to autocross.   I think they won't need me to get a roll-cage, so we'll see.....

Ron,  yeah I think so as well!

Autocross school will definitely help me, since I honestly never tried to autocross.

And Im glad we have seasoned autocrossers here that I can ask questions and learn as well :)

set up looks sick. with all that exhaust pipe in the engine bay even w coated pipes, you concerned with engine bay temps? especially if stuck in traffic in the summer.

thanks Rich.

yes, all the hot parts will be coated by Swaintech.   On top of that, we'll also wrap them with DEI titanium heat wraps/turbo blankets.   I already tried this combo with my previous set-up, and these two methods help with engine bay temp.

Plus of course, besides using water/meth spray  and  WERKS race ic  (not really helpful on bumper to bumper traffic though)............I'll be using Norm's viper style hood.    So I'm hoping the hood will help bring in colder air, and release heat.

And there's also another plan that BTF and I are planning if it will fit.  I won't discuss about it right now, since its not yet finalized.
hint:  think wrx-sti  :)

Unfortunately, I think this car will be very hard to autocross with having all that power. A road course would be better suited as long as the power delivery is smooth, but still, a rookie going on a road course with that much power is asking for trouble. Big turbo Supra smashed at Watkins Glen last year because he couldn't handle his power.

I would keep this car off any track if I were you. It's too nice to screw up.

All great points made Kenny!  However there are risks in life itself!  Heck, we all take risks everyday.  Pardon the off topic but just to make a point I took a risk on Monday, September 26Th, 2011 but it didn't kill me but it could have but pushed the envelope and walked 10 miles around the indoor track, uh, that's 100 times around the track and yes I could have had a heart
attack but I am a risk taker when it comes to working out.

Now, back to topic, whether it is Politics, Industry, Reaching for the Moon if you are an astronaut or anything that approaches ones will to succeed and prove a new goal, it is within us homo-sapiens to indeed challenge abilities and strengths and that is what gives life it's kickback in self satisfaction.  We are not attached at the chord as we were when in the stomach of our mother, we are free to discover ourself's and that is what gives life meaning and purpose!  To each his own... go do your thing Sky888 and don't look back but one step at a time.  As you progress and learn you will succeed.  Kenny makes some very valid points that you should take into consideration.  It is early, but I would say to you, do what is in your heart cause the great ones follow that lead and succeed!  If you are a risk taker and have a goal follow your heart.  :usa:

Ron, I think Kenny is referring more as to whether that much power is suited for autocross. I imagine Sky888 would definately have his hands full!

This is my first season of autocross, so I'm certainly not an expert.  I'm finding that a typical autocross course rarely gives me a chance to fully floor the accelerator without breaking the wheels loose.  It's much more about agility through the quick turns.  I have a tune on my Redline, but it's nowhere near the power you'll be putting out.  While I wholeheartedly encourage you to get into autocross (it's a blast!), you may find all that power is actually a disadvantage.

Now both the gt2871r turbo and the gt4294r turbos are positioned inside the engine bay! :)

Once the god forsaken notches required for the gate placements (the 60mm primary uses 2.5" pipe man, it's :censor: ing huge) are finished so they have no seams, serious bracing will be constructed across the top of the Valve cover and to the turbos, headers and specifically where the gates attach.

They are so far away from the engine they will be prone to oscillation at certain frequencies and eventually cracking without significant bracing and double wall at the gate attachment points.

THEN having guaranteed placement of key components and they're v-band orientation, we will add 3 flex/expansion bellows to allow for thermal expansion and to some degree vibration/misalignment.

The proper kind of flex bellow, NOT the braided variety. those have no place upstream of a turbo!

thanks for all the warnings and advises, I really appreciate it.

I'll try both road race and autocross.   That's why I am planning to go to school and learn from the professionals.    They'll let me know if my car will not be safe and etc, with my skill levels.

Not pushing my car and be stupid and not autocross/road race educated...........
