I believe there are different kinds of powdercoat.

Even my rotors have this black (not smooth) powdercoat.     They use a different approach on those since they'll survive higher amount of heat, compared to a regular powdercoat.   So........

well you might have a different approach.  I believed what my powdercoater told me.

You might be doing the right thing.

I do not know.

Powdercoating is not my forte :)

As long as the end result of my powdercoated products are nice and durable, I am happy :)

this is the different kind of powdercoat that I was talking about....maybe you know what kind is this.  It has a rubbery/rough texture.

FLASHING UPDATE:

communicated with BTF last night.

We are both following this guy from Finland using his BMW motor.  I am not really sure what size his small turbo is...but his big turbo is GT4788r.     He is getting  TOO much back pressure, and the COMPOUND Turbo geniuses, think that the GT4788 (although already a big turbo)....is too small for his set-up.  He is getting 40psi of back pressure with 28psi :(

So BTF was recommending me to upgrade the GT4094r turbo to a T6 based turbo.    I'm still undecided.  I dont want that big of a turbo........I was hoping if we can use GT42 with the biggest AR available.   So we'll see what happens.......

Anyways, here are some photos of the guy from Finland :)

40psi backpressure with 30psi boost is bad???? Doesn't sound way too big to me!!!

You sure?? Did anyone measured the backpressure of our K04 when doing 25-30psi of boost??

P.S. I will ask my local skilled tuners about this and report back.

yeah, pretty sure bro.

Didn´t make any difference when they  boosted 3psi or 20psi on the small turbo.

40psi back pressure at 28psi (which is a no-no) .....so the poor guy trashed the compound build since it only made made 940 hp and full boost under 3000 rpm.

He wanted at least 1200 hp.

With only the GT4788 on a 3.8 lit engine he had 0.6 bar backpressure at 1110 whp

He changed to a Precision 8285R billet and spool valve now...and will soon go to dyno.   He is expecting more than 1200 whp  :)

you gotta anticipate everything bro.

like what I mentioned to you before, at the moment there is NO EXACT science on choosing the right turbo sizes for compound....so we have to be careful what exact turbos to be using.

It doesnt really matter if I go for 600hp or 1200hp.............if my turbos are incorrectly sized, the build will fail..........or it will be an expensive build, since lots of time/materials will be wasted.....

I'm going a different route.  I just bought a wrecked Veyron for a few thousand Quid and I'm taking the motor out of that and dropping it in my Solstice.  Not a compound turbo set up, just a multiple turbo set up.  makes the math much easier.  I should be right around 1001 HP with my build.

Compoud turbo on a FWD?  how on earth is it drivable in anything but a straight line?  As soon as you try to go around a corner it must just smoke the rubber off the tires!

Never mind... just did a follow up.. it's an AWD Eclipes right?  The transverse engine threw me off.

That thing must be shear madness.  I approve :)

Actually Kevin, is one of the guys out there, that I consider technically, scientifically, and mechanically talented.

I learned a lot from him from all our conversations regarding compound turbo set-up.

His eclipse started as AWD.......but Kevin (by himself), converted it into a RWD ;)

then he also did his compounds....on his own.

Head will be sent out to ABT Machine Co for valve job.

SMG will port the head.

Then head will be sent to nitrofreeze.com for cryo-treatment

supertechperformance.com is generous enough to help me out with a set of oversized valves, 78# springs, retainers

If you're trying to flow more than 70 lb/min, and trying to get more than 600whp, unfortunately our stock fuel system will not be able to support it.

Even if we can raise our fuel pressure to 2800psi thru trifecta tune/HPT tune, the stock fuel system, still have a hard time.

Water/Meth kits are nice, and will help cool the air and prevents detonation.  If you use 100% pure meth, it will help add more fuel, but it can only do so much even if you add 4 injectors on the manifold.    I was  talking to Chance from Devil's own, and he advised me that if I really want to add more fuel during high boost/more air...........water/meth spray is not the way to go.

So after consulting with different LNF tuners, I ended up going with PORT INJECTION using a secondary fuel rail.   I will also use an additional fuel cell so I don't have to tap from the stock fuel tank line.

This will make sure that I will have enough fuel injection during high boost/more air during high rpms.

I would like to give thanks to KELU....since he directed me with the NX Safe fuel system (fuel cell) last year, which made me helped with my planning

I would like to give THANKS to these companies for their support of my compound turbo build:

rossmachineracing.com  = -8 fuel rail, brackets, and bungs

rceng.com = set of 70 lb RC engineering injectors

nitrousexpress.com =  SAFE fuel system w/ high output fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator

splitsec.com = Additional Injectors Controller and R4 Software

Very Keen eyes Bob :)

yeah, during the process, we changed some plans and will tweak some stuff.

The biggest tweak is going with a GT4294r turbo (instead of GT4094r).   This turbo flow about 50 lb/min more compared to the smaller turbo originally planned to be used.   Basically this big turbo can flow up to 85 lb/min, which is capable up to  850hp.

With the new HPTuner beta and upgraded LNF cams available, and secondary fuel system that I I currently have, we are very confident that we'll get way more than 700hp....

Nice muffs,is your build for Drag racing only. I am using 3" straight exhaust [Very loud and lots of turbo whistle] I basically removed my RPI mufflers and substituted straight pipe. the mufflers can be reinstalled with some effort. I am only running 21 lbs of boost from my 5457 PTE turbo, Not sure if I want to increase more because of the long and repetitive time on the accelerator in road racing.
