thanks Tom.

once the build is finish....I'm planning to go to autoX & Road Race schools.

So basically, I don't want the car to be limited to drag events.

The exhaust plan will be very similar to my Solo Mach-shorty.    But instead we'll go 3" pipe that Y splits into 3" pipes with these mufflers.

Or 4" pipe that Y-splits into 3" pipes with these mufflers.

So we'll see.......

yeah, you are right GJ! :)

it will be a DD plus a show car as well.    lol

I live in a condo complex.....and my neighbors are already complaining with my SOLO mach-shorty.     I'm glad I didn't get the SOLO race exhaust a couple years ago.....cuz I'll definitely have more "friends"....hahaha!

I am not really sure how these new race mufflers will sound......but I'm really hoping that it will be as the same DB level of my old solo mach-shorty.....and not louder.

So we'll see.....

can you run a parallel exhaust with a better muffler? (by better of course, I mean it does a better job of muffling, not better as in better HP numbers... just to clairify)  My Dad did this on one of his "projects" and it worked great.  He installed a dial in the cabin and could just adjust volume as needed.  0 = stock quiet 10 = almost just straight pipes (I think he had similar muffs to your new ones).  Of course, he did this on a full size truck, so he had a little bit more room to play with.

dial in-cabin volume control for the exhaust?

I'm not really sure if I can have a parallel exhaust tho.

Yup.  He used a SS electric valve that could open and close to any point ( full open would allow the exhaust gasses to pass thru the quieter muffler) ( fully closed would block off the secondary tubing and basically be the race exhaust with 0 restrictions) anywhere in the middle would allow varied amounts of gasses to go thru the secondary exhaust, quieting the truck down.  If you are really interested, I can scotch it out, but I think you get the point.  It actually worked fantastic.

Oh ok!  thanks for explaining.

It's basically very similar to an electronic cut-out.

Wow, that's a much easier explanation!  Yup, just imagine a second muffler instead of the open pipe.

I'm planning to put it as close to the DP as possible.

if I end up going with a 4" dp/exhaust........I'll probably get a 4" cut out......and just sell this 3" unit.

We need all the luck that we can get!  :)

BTF is already having a hard time trying to fit the compound manifold, without relocating too much stuff.    Already attempted several mock-ups on his Solstice.   That's why the 4" dp from the big turbo, is not a guarantee to fit.  The discharge side of the gt4294r has a 4", and he might just gradually reduce it to 3" to fit.

so we'll see.....how everything materialize......

And yes, he still has his kappa, so that's a good thing! :)

Too bad most of his projects are honda & wrx sti crowd  :(

B, thats a good article!  Those GTX turbos really give at least 10% more power up top! :)

The GTX turbos when I get lucky, will be my next upgrade next year.

I spoke with Honeywell for sponsorship, but I was too late for this year.   The guy told me to apply next year, and to continue to give him updates about my build, since he is very interested with the compound set-up.

He said that next year will be perfect since currently, they don't have GTX models for the gt28 and gt42, anyways.

Both GTX turbos will be plug and play for my set-up.

The spool time will be the EXACTLY the same if I upgrade next year.................but the mid range and the top end will definitely improve.   If I upgrade to the GTX turbos, its not because I want more power, I just like the stronger billet compressor wheels  :)   That's all.

I don't know, I really don't want to push the car more than 700whp, since the stage 3+ clutch can only handle about 550ft-lb (on the wheels).   I can't go stage 5 clutch kit since my car will be a daily driver, and that stage 5 will not last longer than 4000 street miles, before I change it again.

So we'll see what the future brings  :)

Turbosmart is currently helping me out with my build and sent me:

Eboost 2 electronic boost controller - 60max psi

2011 Race Port Bov

Comp-Gate 40 wastegate

Power-Gate 60 wastegate

So that's the reason why I have to remove all of my Tial products since they're a direct competitor :)

here are some of the photos:

Eboost controller (66mm)

2011 Race Port Blow off Valve (very small and light)

check out the size difference between my old Tial Q bov and the 2011 Race Port BOV (they're both 50mm though)

I do not have real photos of the comp gate 40 and power gate 60 since they were sent directly to BTF who will install them on the compound manifold set up

yeah, I'm not really familiar with turbosmart until lately.

I have been a fan of Tial products for a long time..........until I started researching for an EBC that can go more than 45psi.   And project scarab referred me to to turbosmart Eboost that he is using.  Then he txted me telling me to apply for sponsorship.   At first I said, I don't want to...since I already have all the Tial WGs and Bov.   Then the day after, I applied for sponsorship....then luckily, they were interested with my project....
So they helped me out! :)

Found out recently they're really up there with Tial.   Which is awesome!  :)

It doesn't hurt that it looks factory installed when using one of the AC vents :)

that really looked nice Josh!

since I haven't been to my car for a long time.....I believe Sky don't have round vents :(    We have rectangular vents.

I'll probably just mount it on the side by the pillar........or by my steering column.....

oh well....

Although I will be using a fully v-band TIAL GT42R housing,.....I still want to show you guys how BIG a GARRETT GT42R housing with a 1.01 AR  :)    I will be shipping this housing to the new owner soon ...

and here's the difference between the Garrett and Tial housings:

I chose the Tial housing because:
1.) its VERY sexy ;)
2.) its lighter
3.) its smaller in size and has full v-band which are both very advantageous in fitting my compound set-up in a very tight engine space.

DEI Titanium wraps for a T3 and T4 turbine housings that I'll be using for my GT2871r and GT4294r, respectively:

kelu, just make sure to get the titanium line.   They are capable up to 1800 degrees F (direct heat)..............and 2500 degrees F (radiant heat)......unlike the regular ones that will not be able to handle heat very well (can only handle direct heat of 1000-1200 degrees f), and will deteriorate easily.
