if u wanna try a new ecm, talk with DDM if they have a spare ecm to send you with the tune for 2871, swap them and see the result. if all is going well, keep the ecm. if not, i believe u should find a way to send them the car. they will be able to find out what is wrong

I do have a truck and trailer. If all else fails, I guess it will have to go to their shop.

And yes, Arabas, I think that may be the next plan of action. However I am still waiting to hear back from Dave.

Shipping an ECM is a lot cheaper than hauling the car 600 miles through the Appalachian mountains to DDM's shop

Update:

Sent the ECM to Dave. He said that he wanted to adjust something in the tune.

I am hoping when I finally get it back, the car runs as it should! My car pals are really starting to give me heat for not showing up to some of our get-togethers!

LOL, chill, is nice to have somebody like Dave so close hopefully everything will be sorted out ;)

You might think DDM is far away from you but if you look from a different perspective you will realize that is not so bad ;)

Yea, but you can turn into a bat and do your own Air-Express
or is an ECM to heavy to hold with the little claws?

Keep us posted Miller. I'm real curious on how this turns out.

Miller,
Just out of curiosity, what exhaust setup are you running?  High flow cat, catless, etc?  The car sounds great!  Hope you get it sorted out:)

Elff and I will be joining you in the 2871 club very soon.

Got the ECM back today!

Put it in, car ran REALLY rough for a min or so.

After the car learned its fuel trims, I tooled around the neighborhood and got the nerve to go farther from home.

finally after i got it up to operating temp, I romped on it. and it is glorious once again!

Whatever dave changed worked. I will drive it to work tomorrow to verify the fix, but im pretty certian that it is good to go at this point!

:D

PS Spicy3480 its a Solo HF Cat and Solo Street race exhaust. No mufflers required!

Well im sad I said it was fixed last night .... once again my fuel trims have learned back and the car still runs rich.

Im at a loss for words at this point. It learns back to a 13.2 afr on cruise 10.9 WOT 3rd gear pull.

Any more suggestions? Other than get a log lol

Miller: If you would be able to log you would see if those read values are commanded which will indicate is a problem in the tune or is different than the commanded lambda and than is a mechanical issue.

The other good advice: get in touch with Dave again

That's all I can say :(

Dave had mentioned he had a way to get me an interface to log.

I was debating on taking it to the dealer to get the stock tune flashed back into the car.

I would lose a bunch of power, however I would know then and there if it was a car issue or a tune issue.

I already sent an email to Dave on my way in to work this morning. I will be calling him later on today.

miller, just one quick question.
do you see it is running rich from the gauge or from datalogs?
i ask this, because there is always the possibility that the gauge is malfunctioning....
i agree with Kelu, get in touch with Dave again..

I am only going off an AF gauge. I have nothing to log the AFR

I would hope the AFR gauge would be correct (as the gauge is brand new), but it is possible the gauge is just messed up.

I can tell that the car is rich though (poor gas mileage, etc), so I would be extremely surprised to find the gauge is not reading correctly

poor gas mileage is not a criterion. when i was testing my big wheel, i told Vince that i had poor gas mileage. of course he let me know that as far as AF ratio is concerned he has it on the best possible value and i had no reason not to believe him.
what i didn't take in mind is that:
1. it is a different turbo, so gas mileage WILL be different
2. with a new toy on the car, we usually drive more aggressively to test it-feel it, any chance given

i am not saying that your AFR gayge is malfunctioning. i am just saying pls double check the gauge readings with a datalog, just to make sure that the problem really exists.

1.talk to Dave to find a solution fro datalogging
2.find someone with HP tuner
3.OR get in touch with trifecta to buy a cable and use their interface, log, send it to Vince and have him inform you what your AF ratio is. i suppose Vince will not ask you an arm and a leg for this service

Well I am pretty sure 16mpg while cruising 50 miles to work would qualify as poor. My full size Avalanche gets that on the same trip.

I have talked to other big turbo users, and they all agree something is not correct. Most boast they get better mileage as long as they keep out of the boost.

I plan to either datalog with vince or get take it back to dave.

I think the AFR gauge is good because after tune update he could see good values.

After tune update the engine is running on "open loop" based on values from the tables and than starts to correct based on the sensors information. Something is wrong but you need to figure out if is something in the tune or is a mechanical issue.

Yes, The car runs fine and as it should on open loop... then it corrects. So I am not sure what is causing the mis-information, but the mis-information is definitely there.

I'm gonna pipe in to agree.

you need a datalogger.
You don't necessarily need to get HPTuners.  There are plenty of cheaper solutions out there that can do what you need and then send that data out
