That's awesome to hear.

I watched on the live cam as they removed the exhaust and Joe did the welding.
pretty cool.
Wish I could have still been there.

This Turbo Upgrade is amazing.  I am blown away with how much faster the kappa is now.

Probably the drag strip will be first. But I will get it back on a dyno soon!

Funny thing is I had just said that everything must be okay because we hadn't heard anything and a minute later you called and I got dirty looks and finger pointing for mentioning it.

Too funny

Got my new turbo in as well and love it.  I have an automatic and at first we had had some knock issues...some under WOT but mostly during the shifts.  Dave tuned the knock out and the car seems to be running great.  It is supoer quick with loads of power from 3000rpm up.  The car pulls like crazy up high as well.  Loving it so far.  Glad your issues were worked out miller!  It was nice meeting you and ihawk.

HA HA yes...but this is Millers thread and I want to do some more driving on it so I can be as accurate as possible.  Still have to send some logs to Dave to see how the ECU makes compensations for any remaining knock.

Steve,

Is it safe to assume that Solo's HF Cat kits will now come with a Steel o2 extender instead of alum??

With the increased post CAT temps, I am sure that is why I melted mine... but it is a good warning to anyone who has a tune and a HF cat. Not sure If that is worthy of its own thread, but it is an issue that really should be addressed. Esp, since I would think an aluminum extender would cost more than a plain steel connector.

Steve.

I will keep an eye on mine as well.  I drove home and no more cat code since we put the extender on the Magnaflow.
Car sounds evil with the Hi Flow Cat now but it's still fairly quiet during cruising.

The spool up is a little later than the K04.  Around 2800 you better hold on to your freaking steering wheel because it throws you back in the seat.
I was running some errands this morning and I did a full on drift right after I shifted into second gear
AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS ON!!!!

The difference in Power is freaking amazing but it still has excellent daily driver characteristics.  It pulls way stronger up top than the K04.
Doesn't have that 5500rpm drop off anymore.

My BOV is rubbing the hood liner ever so slightly.  I am going to see if I can rotate it down just a touch.  Shouldn't be an issue.

I'll be picking up HP Tuners in June so I can keep an eye on everything properly.

In Summary though
Millers issues were not Turbo kit related.
This kit is DD friendly
Power increase is huge.
Permagrin is of Joker proportions

I agree with elff's review fully.  When Dave and I were test driving it and logging, the traction control was kicking in way too much:)

Every time Dave and I stopped to look at the logs and make adjustments we heard Cop Siren's
We were laughing our asses off about how they just couldn't find this culdesac we were stopped at.

Then, when I got my ticket, Monica goes, guess they found you.

Yea, I got a ticket on my way to the food lion.
I was only in Second Gear.
How embarrassing compared to the thrashing Dave was doing on our test runs
 :idk:

It's no big deal
Speed Limit was one thing, I was driving another.
Cop gave me a ticket that won't get insurance involved and is under $100.
He could have been a real jerk, but instead was respectful and just doing his job.
I'll take full responsibility for my actions and won't get dinged too hard in the process.
Besides, this way, I took one for the team and everyone else got off ticket free.

It's all good.

For what it is worth I believe you, especially since Monica backed you up.  It is the luck of the draw, and you actually picked a good hand.  It could have been so much worse.

Thanks! But, he was sitting there waiting for me when Tammy and I came back from the auto parts store. Luckily, I was behaving. ;)

I agree. I turned the TC off for our run and drifted a corner that Kenny and Spikey probably saw.

It made me go :D

Remember, TC off... ESC ON!

so this DDM 2871 needs a custom tune done on the dyno or the road?
how about an ECM tuned in DDM's garage and sent out with the turbo kit?
