Everybody always wants to be like me BTW, this might be a stylish alternative to having a key in the ignition all the time: http://www.saturnstyling.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=129_24_25&products_id=228
OK, I gotta ask... what's the point if you have to put the key in and turn it to unlock the steering column anyways???
I agree. Stupid thing to add if you still need your key in the regular ignition.
This has been covered. You cut the key head and remove the chip inside. Then, you cut the key down and shave it down, turn it to the on position, and leave it there in order to leave the steering wheel unlocked. Cover the cut key with some sort of cap as if it isnt even there. Place the chip somewhere so it can still be detected by the Passlock system. From here on out everything is controlled via the units being installed by DGD. The DGD system senses (via the RF ID tag you have in your pocket) when you come within or out from 4 feet of the car and locks/ unlocks the doors. Senses when you are in the car and enables the engine start/ stop switch for vehicle operation. It's not for everyone and as i said it is an EXPENSIVE mod. I think i will like the added convenience of not having to touch anything except to start and stop the car.
Helios : My warranty was already void when i dropped in DDMs S/C. So, I wasnt worried about the rest of the warranty.
So as far as the steering wheel lock..... How do the cars from the factory do this? Does the steering wheel unlock when you get in, or after you have started up the car? With a little bit of research and time, I bet you could make this system pretty slick.
Unless it is different for the Canadian models or different year models it should have a lock, my 09 does. Take the key out & turn the wheel & it will lock when it gets to a certain spot, sometimes it doesn't seem like it until you turn it far enough. Then it unlocks I believe when you turn the key to the 1st position.
I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have a steering wheel lock. Checked this a few weeks ago for somebody.
