Put in plugs and gapped them to .033. I had been running .028 on the gap but have recently started getting detonation during WOT in 3rd gear. Seems to have solved the problem. The replaced plugs had 49500 miles on them and looked to be in great shape. Only replaced them on account I broke the center electrode on one of them.

Check the lower coolant holes where it "T" off to the reservoir. I have a small leak there. It don't even drip on the garage floor. So for now I just keep a eye on the coolant tank. Dealer wants $144 retail price.

Put Streak on stands, had some fresh sticker A6s mounted, stripped another 9 pounds off the car, and looked at stuff in preparation for a clutch job after NEXT weekend. Gonna mount another aluminum seat in on the passenger side, and that will complete the "diet". After the light flywheel, Streak should be nudging 2900 pounds, maybe a touch under. We'll see.

SOB  I'd love to hear all the ways you've dropped weight in the car and how much each method dropped. Maybe a separate thread we can catalog all this stuff in?

This last bit was pieces from my Curt hitch. I had modified it to be partially removable, but since I no ;onger use a trailer behind it, it served no purpose. Other than that, the "options" are limited in SP. Seats, flywheel, battery (NOT relocated), exhaust and cat, etc. I could get some lightweight discs made, spend a squidzillion dollars on calipers, pull the A/C and radio, but I am just not going to do that. If my driving was consistent and good enough, I might benefit. The car is still FAR quicker than I am, so THAT is where the "work" will be done. Of course, if it is wet at Nats, it's hopeless against the AWD cars.

Are you prepping for an uber secret mission?  We really need some pics of all the work and new parts.  Sounds awesome!!!

Snap on Bob,
I still don't understand how AWD cars are put in the same class as 2wd cars.

It is less of an issue in Stock classes, as they tend to not do so well without substantial camber changes. But above Stock, wet/dry is just not a consideration in classing cars.

J_Bond,

No, not really.  I have a ridiculous affinity for automobiles. I can NEVER leave them stock, and when I buy one, I like to restore them to their absolute 'optimum' state, as well as modify the hell out of them in order to make them perform and look the way I would prefer... :)   and,  I always buy 'used.'
I recently acquired my 2008 Sky 2.4L and I can say hands-down it is my favorite car I have owned in years.  You feel so connected to the road and to the car.  I know people arrive on these forums and regale all the members with bullsh*t stories about "I owned this car and that car and blah blah blah...."  but I can honestly say, I've owned many cars over the years to give good comparisons to the Sky.
One car in particular I thought for sure I'd NEVER enjoy as much was my 2005 SRT6.  This car ran 11.9 at the track consistently on my regular street tires, could fit 20x11's in the rear with 295 tires, had tons of available modifications and private vendors, etc.
But, I can honestly say, even with all the horsepower and dynamics of the car, the SRT6 as well as any of my other sports cars I've owned just do not give you the same feeling (driving emotion) that my Kappa does.  Even with the  2.4L, it's an absolute blast.  A TRUE enthusiasts's car.  What a horrible shame they ceased production.  A car should feel like an extension of the driver, and the Sky certainly does that.
I have a black Sky, so I am adding black Redline headlights,blacking-out the side markers, removing all the chrome etc. today.  She's looking great so far!  I'll be sure to post pix when she's all done.
I love all the chatter on this forum!  Admittedly, the Skyroadster forums seem 'technically' less prolific as the Solstice forums, so I've been lingering around there more often.  I can hardly get a question answered by the Sky owners.... I just think there are much less Sky-owners left, definitely less who are still wrenching on them for fun or sport...

LS7 swap is more likely down the road.  I've owned mostly V8's, and never tire of the sound of Eight cylinders!!  Especially a flat-plane crankshaft V8!  :)  Although... the nasty rumble (nasty in a good way) of the Chevy firing order at full throttle gives me goosebumps!

Installed my mud flaps (front only), then washed and polished my car.  I was out of wax, so that'll have to wait.

I did snap quite a few pics.  One in particular I really like:

Not exactly yet a mod, but I hung my spare windshield on the garage wall to safely store it:

Also, thanks to SkyJack (and Pauline), I picked up a very lightly used stock exhaust, the idea being to remove the tips and have them chromed before installing them on my car.

The muffler and pipe are perfect. It was a hard choice to cut the welds and remove the tips, but I did it.

Here is why I wanted to do this:

Nasty, and nearly impossible to polish and keep clean. Chrome will make this MUCH better, and I really prefer the stock shape over a single or pair of round, or even an oval, chrome tip.

Thanks again Jack!
