I fabbed up a heat shield for the turbo since mine didn't come with one. I used hvac duct. Figure I'd do it in aluminum as the householg stuff will rust.

Supposedly the exhaust side of the turbo should remain hot or the molecules shrink and cool and become less effective.

Got to test drive after alignment and installation of B&G shocks. Got another 4 mpg going to Columbus Friday. I guess with smaller displacement they are more sensitive to weight and alignment drag.  :) Still amazing mpg!

Used a Rav 4 to do some custom body work on the front of the car, slide under it at about 5 mph in rush hour traffic, small dent in hood, small hole in bumper, the clear bar may have saved me from needing a new hood, no paint damage. I will be getting a new bumper, not such a bad thing all the curb scuffs will be gone.

That is one of the better looking front ends, but turn signals/fogs?  And if you do the front, you need the side skirts as well.

Sorry to hear of your accident lil goat.  I've been thinking about that hood for awhile now.  Wished I could see one in person to check the fit and finish.  Wasn't today but yesterday I had my new tires and wheels installed.  Looks good and I'll try to post some pics in the next few days.

The fogs/signals have been what has stopped me in the past, the skirts come with the kit.

The question is do I do this or not, I have been thinking about it since I bought my NA.

Not my taste, but then each to his own.  Personally I prefer the original front to anything else I've seen.  Plus, fiberglass bumpers are so fragile.

Assuming your hole is small and not a big tear, a good bodyshop will be able to repair it - they have great flexible fillers now.  Even fixed and repainted, would probably be more durable than aftermarket and certainly way cheaper.

But I feel for you.  I bet you got that sickening feeling in the pit of your stomach when it happened. Ugh.

The one I picture is not fiberglass, I would not even consider fiberglass, it is polyurethane same as the factory one. I have figured out how to do the turn signals,  large LED strips on the corners, diode with resistor for running lights diode for turn signals, might be kind of cool.

It was just a fender bender, and I drove home so U238 you are still crash, I will be crunch. I was taking Bryan Nolan to pick up his car from the dealer, no good deed goes unpunished. The car in front of me stopped short because the car in front of him did.

It is no big deal, no one was hurt, I want a new bumper, even a stock one when my car was REALLY low I scrapped up the front pretty good. The air bags did not even deploy that's how low the impact was. I have an EXCELLENT body shop to do the work so not really worried.

Goat,

Bummer on the accident.  GunnyGXP says that the fitment of that front bumper wasn't very good at all on the GXP and some serious working of the bumper was required.  It fits the NA good though.

They say that it is tough to fit on the GXP on the website, I am just "thinking" about it. It would be free so why not at least explore the idea, if I do it guess who would get bribed to help fit it before I take it in for paint. DOH! I think that large LEDS(require some precise drilling) on a strip along the bottom edge would make really cool turn signals, but I would miss my fog lights.

I didn't do a Damn thing to my car, but Joe left his at home today.  We'll just say that as well as he can work on cars, he can work over an exterior.  I forgot what color his car was.  He should have changesd his screen name to ScratchedOxidationGXP!

The following are Poorboy's World products using a Porter Cable 7424 DA buffer with Lake Country pads:

I started by wiping everything down with Bug Squash to get as much grime off as possible.

I then spent about 2 hours with SSR 2.5 over the entire surface using an orange pad on level 6. That took up most of the oxidation and got rid of most of the spider webbing.  Next I hit everything with Pro Polish with Carnuba again on an orange pad at level 6.  This finished smothing the surface so it was like glass. That took about another 1.5 hours.

I spent the next hour or so applying Black Hole on a gray/black pad on level 1. I let it dry for about 30 min (Ineeded a break at this point) and then wiped it down clean.  I followed it all up with some EX Sealant on a blue pad on level 1.  That was another 45 min.

The clean up was the hardest part.  When Joe got home, he kept drooling on everything!

I pulled the cover back today to get more measurements for the billet aluminum door sills. One day before long I have to get the recessed grills that I got from Rudy painted.
Just trying to do my part...

Kelu have you missed my posts about brakes? Good grief I have made about 50, between the reservoir and the new Wilwoods. I just got the new reservoir, might install it this weekend. I am not doing much else until I pay for the brakes, they are not cheap! So other than that I am paused. I will attempt the pill this weekend maybe, last weekend was for giving back. I worked handing out food baskets to active duty military in need, then took advantage of the last of the nice weather to cruise with Bryan Nolan out though West by God Virginia. Trust me the car was being pushed and so was the stereo, I am not satisfied with either. After trying my hand at autocross (damn you Ben) I know the greatest need for my car is better brakes, that will be next. The only reason to think about the new bumper is I have to buy a new one anyway and the insurance company is paying for it.

I have been a car stereo nut a very very long time nothing new there. I majored in acoustical engineering in college, I even owned my own Audio Visual Company once upon a time, I know more about that than I do about cars.

Today I drove the best looking BLUE gxp in Maryland to work today and all I can say is WOW, I probably gained 10 HP from drag reduction.

Thanks Mike.
