On the way to work today I had an encounter with a peice of fresh roadkill. A rather large, deceased possum appeared in my path, whoever killed it didn't have the decency to flatten it. Couldn't turn left, car along side me, and on the right there was am approaching right turn "island" so I couldn't fully change lanes. Swerved right, caught the dead critter with the left wheels, dodged back narrowly missing the island.

Thankfully no damage other than the plastic panel got popped out, gonna buy some new fasteners on the way home. The gore is pretty spectacular, left front wheel is covered in blood spray, and the underside and left side of the car are streaked with blood.

Had friends hit one of these on the way back from Dragon '08. Made a real mess of the driver's side under the door in the rocker panel. Glad all you got was spray.

Ah yes, road kill!  Ever play the road kill game?  When you have someone tailgating you
and along comes a large (coon, possum, skunk!!) roadkill.  Maintain your line until the
last second, then swerve quickly around the target.  Hapless Oscar Grope behind you (being oblivious) is watching you now and not what is on the road.  Score 1 point if they go over it, 2 points if they try to swerve and hit it with their wheels, 3 if they go off the road or swerve into oncoming lane.  10 points if they also splash guts on a pedestrian!!
Tim.

Sorry GJ, didn't get pics and the car is already clean.

Ended up with one more bit of damage. Brake duct got knocked off the inlet and got pushed back far enough to to cause tire rub. Easily fixed.

Buick is more like this:

But yeah, basically! Not my style, but the rest of the car, interior too, was stock. Not bad looking overall.

Drove to lunch with the top down in a short sleeve shirt, drove the long way home the same way.  I was in the second hour of my 20 minute drive when GJ called and we tested my new bluetooth device with the top down at speed.  Then we rolled up the windows and tested it in stop and go traffic.

Of course. I thought he was referring to the somewhat unorthodox "vent" on the Sky I posted. Of course you are correct.

I've owned 2 2003 minis. 1 a Cooper and 1 an S and currently own a 2009 s
They don't have side vents.
They do have side marker lights however so they are far from fake or non functional but they are definitely not stick on  vents

I'd like to hear more about the baking issue

I painted my new Rotors with Rustolem 1K F Paint.   Decided that a 500 F pre-mount baking should condition them. During the first try, the Mfg paint burned off and I had to clean and repaint.

I had used VHT years ago on some headers and they recommended it.  I thought it would be a good idea for the rotors.  This time I used the BBQ.  I lost a bunch of points when I used the kitchen oven for the headers. :banghead:

Cooled, mounted, & bedded.  :yay:
