Be patient some more, once it is back together, the fun will return.

Jimmy I can vouch for that. When my Kappa was kaput for most of last summer I really got fed up with it, but once it was fixed I started to enjoy having the car again. It's just incredibly frustrating making a payment on something that doesn't work.

Now, if something craps out a second time I may feel differently about all this...

And it's still in the back of my mind calling to me...get a nice '94 5.0...heads, cam, exhaust, shocks and springs...

Helping out on a friend's foxbody a week ago didn't help. Old cars are just so much more friendly towards oldschool mechanical know-how. No cranky computers, no emissions system, just a car. I love my Sky but I'd enjoy is so much more if it wasn't so complex.

Did it overheat?  How is your oil?   Does the smoke smell like radiator fluid?

Didn't think to check the temp, didn't stop to check the oil. Did not pass go, went directly to Jail..no, wait, that would be the dealer.
 :idk: :gaah:
The stink was bad enough, combined with the cumulus cloud hovering behind me, that I said to myself..."Houston we have a problem"...and, although I tried to blame the burning car smell on someone else in the vicinity at the stop light(s), it followed me at every stop from the first whiff to the dealer, and into the service bay.. and there wasn't a 1980  chrysler or honda or toyota within a mile of me..... :( peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Pretty much!! As I did the quick and dealer dirty math, a maybe $80 job to replace a bad O2 sensor last year ended up costing me over $800. That's what scares the cr@p outta me as I wait....but I'm stopping by lock up to see if it's visiting hours at the jail..and see when I may be able to post bail  :D

If it overheated and blew the headgasket it is probably warped and will need machining.  I'm afraid it won't be cheap.  Have you had to replace the water pump?  If not you might want to bite the bullet and do that at the same time.

I've never had it overheat, highest temps I've ever seen was a 225, and that was back in 07 or 08. Yea, as long as they're in there, I'm going to have them do the water pump.

Really broad assumption and statement.

All deserve a close inspection.

Just got 'the' call, before I could even get there. Head gasket, so off with the head, fixing the broken stud, and off with the front timing cover to replace the gasket, and while they're poking about in there, they will replace the water pump.

Approx $2600 and change, unless they discover unseen damage. Apparently being a convert, and nice enough for top down, saved my @ss on this one. Should have him back by late Wed, or Thursday. and, praise the Gas Gods, they're giving me a loaner, so Bubba T Bus doesn't bankrupt me  :yay:
