Ran hard, popped codes
« on: April 04, 2010, 10:01:39 AM »
After a night running with some V8 Mustangs and a 2010 Camaro SS, i popped some codes after i shut off the engine then restarted. Codes are P0443, P0102, P0030. I lost cruise control. After erasing the codes they dont come back on the first startup, but they do on the second. Ive not noticed anything weird about how the car is running. I've cleaned the front 02 sensor, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, and tightened one of the intercooler tubes that i found loose. The codes still come back. I'm going to disconnect the battery and hope that somehow resets the BCM/ ECM. Right now it seems i'm grasping at straws. Thoughts?

Disconnected positive terminal on battery for >30 mins and cleaned air filter. Problem still persists. Nothing noticeable as far as drivability. Still have no cruise control. I really think the P00443 code is causing the other 2, but where on the 2.4L engine is the evap purge solenoid?

Helios,

any strange driving conditions?  wet, dusty, smokey (burnouts?)

I see the evap code and the MAF code, what is the third? P0030?

Have you checked fuses for cruise issue?

No strange driving conditions, just a lot of downshifting into either 3rd or 4th gear to get into my powerband to keep up with the big boys.

P0030 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

This code refers to the FWD O2 sensor prior to the CAT. I sprayed it down with MAF cleaner along with the MAF and MAP sensors. No i havent checked the fuse for cruise control, but i will just to make sure. I dont think that would cause my CEL though.

the CEL code list is here.  http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php?topic=9.0

Looks like you identified them correctly.  You may have the 02 sensor code for problem with your setup.  I would send DDM the codes and see what they think.

I looked under my fuse panels and couldnt figure out which ones to check. I guess i could check them all, but id rather not have to. So which ones do i check?

Helios,  Did you check your gas cap?   Losen it and tighten again.  I believe the evap purge sensor is under the temple in the trunk.  but the evap code can come from the gas cap.

Joey,

I replied in the Big Board....sounds like you've got some electrical issues...possibly a burnt or chaffed wire.  look around th eengine bay to see if anything looks suspicious

Well, i checked around the engine bay and didnt see anything out of the ordinary. I found one spot where the loom was melted a little but the wires were ok. I changed the evap purge solenoid. No joy there... The only harnesses i havent been able to look at are from the bottom of the car looking up, but everything in the engine bay looking down looks alright to me. Maybe i should start unwrapping the wires bundles from the loom to do a more thorough inspection. eeeeek!

BTW, the evap purge solenoid is directly behind the valve cover on a little bracket. It has two vacuum lines and an electrical connector going to it. The bracket its on is bolted with one 13MM bolt.

Talked with Dave and Randy from DDM. Randy, provided some much needed insight on my current issue. Directed me to fuse 33 (10A) under the hood. It worked! everything's back to normal. DDM customer support once again comes through!!! These guys are some of the best! They have and will continue to receive my business for a long time!

#33 is list as Ext (exthaust) or Emmisions  It supplies 12v to multiple different sensors including the O2 heater circuit(P030) and the MAF(P0102) and EVAP(P0443).

i hope i don't hijack the post, but since DDM guys helped resolving this issue, i have to say, that Dave and Randy also helped a Greek guy (with GXP) who had a defective water pump and saved him money and trouble.
indeed, DDM guys really help all of us.

Gosh I love DDM.  I personally saw them work on a car at a mod meet very late into the night to fix a problem caused by an alarm installer in another state.  They finally figured it out.
