This kit makes sure that I will never sell my car.

Just makes the decision of which motor to replace it with difficult.  1JZ,2JZ, Ls2, Ls3, Ls7.....?

Let me see if I got this right. I supply the engine/transmission. You supply the conversion kit. Is there ANYTHING else needed to complete this v8 swap?

Does anyone know of someone who has done this conversion on their own?

The DIY kit is all the non- parts store parts. You will be making several trips to the parts store. For example, coolant, oil, PB blaster, etc is not included in the kit (and It should not be included as it is easily available and everyone has their own favorite) However the essential stuff that isnt super widely availible, Ie ECU that is wired to fit the kappa and LSX engine, radiator that is modified for the kappa, etc.

Also any modification/ extra parts you need from your junkyard LS7 would be needed to be ordered as well. They junkyard/reseller may say its all there... but i have bought a few motors and I have yet to get one that is 100% complete.

It is great that they sell the conversion kit though. this kit + a few trips to you local parts store would get you running and ready to tune!

Thanks Miller11386. I guess what I was getting at is there any major/big ticket items left to buy. The stuff you listed is not a problem and expected. Just don't any major surprises!   :gaah:    :D

Perhaps an AC condenser, but because its not in the kit I am assuming the stock piece fits, however that may be something worth asking if you plan to run AC.

I'm not sure what accessories or accessory layout works with this kit... believe that's one of the "details" that's included in the instructions.  By accessories/accessory layout I mean power steering pump, A/C compressor, alternator, idler pulleys...

Well, knowing absolutely nothing, but not letting that stop me, I'd imagine it's supported on/by the same forward crossbar that supports the factory transmissions on the non-torque-bar models/years.

Per this: http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f65/transmission-mount-part-numbers-64631/#post979528

makes sence tomato just really wasnt sure how the rear diff is supported then and if that will cause issues with the power as the TQ arm was installed to stop a clunking with the hard loads well thats how i understand it

The diff is bolted to the frame so it shouldn't really go anywhere (beyond what the bushings will allow).  The torque arm helps keep flexing between the trans and the diff to a minimum.

The diff is always mounted to the frame.  The torque bar only supports the transmission via the diff mount.
