Tried to clean the GMPP CAI filter with a left over K&N air filter cleaner: fail.  Had to go to Advanced Auto Parts and buy this

I'm about to do one I bought used. I'm gonna recharge it this week or next, any tips you can give based on your failure? :)

Ahh..wait...I just saw the K&N and not the GMPP. I'm guessing the GMPP didn't like the K&N recharge kit, huh?

(I have the K&N CAI)

I'm thinking it cost him 50 mph around the cloverleaf.  Therefore 3rd brake light decal = fail.   :idk:

Trust, 50 is being kind.  Truth be told I may have gotten up to around 40.  Fastest car I've seen take a clover leaf exit was a Lotus Elise.  Thought for sure I'd be hearing CRASH!  Nada, not sure how fast it was going all I know is it was that sucker was moving, very impressive.

How did you fail cleaning a filter?  It's pretty straight forward.  Most important part is always wash from inside (post filter) to outside (pre filter) so that you're never pushing debris into the filter.  The cleaner solution is basically a mild soap.  Some slightly diluted dish soap should work just fine.  Then some sort of mineral oil.  The K&N stuff is basically mineral oil with some dye in it, so it gives you a better indication of just how much oil you are putting on.

Ideally, you should go with a dry filter . . . something like AEM's, and then you'll never have to worry about oiling again.

I can believe you on the Lotus.  Drove the low end one a few months back and it was stupid for only have a 1.nothing engine in it.  Lotus = go kart on steroids!!!  It liked the on/exit ramps around here...a lot!!! :D

I have the GMPP intake on my Sky.  Let me tell you, from logging with HPT, that intake is one of the best on the market.   It flows extremely well.

I too was confused when I read this.  SolNut is correct, it is a dry filter.  Wash and let dry is the only maintenance it should need.

The K&N liquid had bleach in it.  As soon as I started spraying the GMPP, it started changing color to a rotted orange and then yellowish.  When I went to rinse it out, the bucket looked like GM collant.  The outside started getting a bad fuzy look like cotton I wasn't about to have it degrade during use and suck parts of it into the intake.

Over the extended weekend I replaced the back up camera with a new Kenwood CMOS-310. This camera added the guidelines and several viewing angles. I also replaced the stock shocks on my Zuma 125 scooter with a lower shock so my feet are flat on the ground when I stop. [attach=1][attach=2]

The GMPP Filter is DRY!
 :drive:

Didn't say it wasn't.  But we were also talking K&N, and I did say ideally.  Nothing wrong with K&N, it's just when you go dry, you never have to worry about over oiling.  And the OP as not talking about using the K&N oil, he was talking about using the K&N cleaner.

Ah!  Interesting.  I remember buying a K&N recharge kit once.  Used up the cleaner, and then when I still had oil left, but no more cleaner, I just started using diluted dish soap.  Then when I ran out of K&N oil, around then, I started using an AEM dry filter.  I've cleaned it twice since getting my car back in 08. Still the same watered down dish soap and no problems.

My pops got a "wireless" (didn't need a wire run from camera to screen) camera.  Worked alright, but in the winter, it would get condensation behind the lens, and then freeze, and then not operate.

He now has an Alpine 7" deck, with an Alpine camera, and holy cow, the quality is night and day different.  Now I know why the better cameras cost $100+, while you can get crappy ones for like $30.

With the plug kit, do you really need the jack?  You could just always roll the car forward or backwards a little exposing the puncture to be worked on.
