It is a Saturn Shifter, both the shift knob and the leather boot.  I think Joe bought a bunch for the trim ring and was selling the part he was not using.  It was $5 for the part and 15 for shipping.  Here is the post I found from last year, I called him and he had some left.

Finally did the coolant check-valve TSB on my car today (TSB 10-06-02-001).  Went OK except it's a bugger getting the clip off the radiator pipe (intake tube's in the way) and then a bugger getting the pipe off the nipple by the cam cover (DDM's cross-brace in the way).  After those issues it was plain sailing though.

Also came up with my own version of the GM Vac'n'fill!  Got one of these from Harbor Freight (http://www.harborfreight.com/multi-use-transfer-pump-66418.html):

Pulled the return pipe off the overflow tank and pushed it into the pump intake (by the handle), then routed the other orange pipe from the pump back into the o/f tank.   Then I just pumped for a while 'til I stopped hearing any gurgling and just had a clean stream of coolant flowing into the tank.  Didn't have to unbolt the tank and raise it up, or do a "hand-job" (not in my job description!) or anything.

You can even get the pumps for $4 with the coupon that occasionally pops up in their ads.

Pretty sure I got some air out, 'cos the fluid level in the tank was about 3/8-1/2" lower than before I started.

Cool.  Interesting idea in action.  I put the valves in, then raised the expansion tank, and saw tonnes of bubbles being pushed out.  And then the level in the tank dropped as well.  Had to put in a little more coolant at the end.

Yeah I bought the valves to do it a few hers ago but never had an issue with the cooling system. The car's five years old now, or will be in the spring so when she comes out of storage it'll be time to change the coolant and put in the valves.

Great idea Mark!

Same, I had bought valves about a year into ownership, but didn't put them in until it was time to change my coolant just before 4 full years (don't trust Dexcool to go the full 5 years personally, and consider it cheap insurance).  When I put them in, I noticed a significant reduction in my normal coolant temp.  I went from about ~98* C to about ~86*.  Did yours do something similar?  What was it before and after?

I won't be changing it until the spring so we'll see what happens then but yeah, now the temperature is around the 98 degree mark.

Yeah I bought the valves to do it a few hers ago but never had an issue with the cooling system.
I never had the bad problem with my cooling either, but it DID get hotter than I liked... with peaks up to 210-212 degF (~100 C) and normal running around 200 F.

I took it for a long drive yesterday and I got it to peak at 203 (normally in the low 190's).  So it does seem to have had an effect.  Similar results to what CS just said.

I've not had BAD temps even in the Southwest here but educate me please. What do these valves look like and where are they placed (photo please). I've only had high temps (215 range) in a mountain twisty run and some 210 range on some daily start and stops days. Normally I'm in the 196-203 on days that were 95-105 outside air. It seems normal but if I can better my cars engine, I'm all for it.

Well the valve is cheap enough now but the picture could be a little grainier to not see what needs to be changed out but I thank you for the direction and read. I'll look to use this method. Didn't DDM do a video on purging air?

If you read the threads properly, it tells you exactly where to put them so even with the slightly grainy pics, if you are in your engine bay at the time, I don't see how you wouldn't be able to figure out where to put the 2 valves.  It's pretty obvious once you think about what you're doing.
