Bottas needs to channel some Rossberg and drive Hamilton off the track a couple of times.

Especially if this is his last year in the fast car.  What's he got to lose?

Ham still hasn't signed has he?  Wouldn't it be interesting to find Russel actually replaces Ham on the team?

I never take practice to indicate anything on Qualifying or race day
I hardly watch as the only thing it may sometimes be good for is some gossip

Qualifying was interesting to say the least.    They did mention that Singapore has been cancelled.  They mentioned that they might do a back to back race at COTA (Austin).  Anyone interested in seeing if we can get tickets?

If the multiple crashes is any indication of what's to come tomorrow, there is going to be a lot of yellow and red flags in the race.

That adds up to a lot after you factor in the plane tickets and hotel. I've thought about it, but not sure this year would work for me.

This track is so narrow, there are so many places where a minor miscalculation, or a small bump will lead to a crash.  Count on there being numerous safety cars and the teams really need to factor that into their pit strategy

Wow
2 of the exact same failures.
I don't like the fact that they pulled them all into the pits.  They should have finished under the safety car.
I am going to be pissed if Hamilton manages to pull out a win

That was a race.   It seems someone won't mention his name forgot to turn off his brake magic.  Something I had never heard of before but it used to warm up the brakes.

Those last to laps were something to watch.  Winning car had to pull over and stop as soon as it crossed the line.

Might be the best race of the season so far.

Does Pirelli get to pay for the damaged cars?  Of course they are saying it's not their fault.

I'm all for brake magic especially on the last lap!

Anyone seen Bottas?  Seems like he missed the race.

Depends what you want, general admission about 300 or so,  Club level  2500 or so.  That is for the currently scheduled race.  Nothing on the second race if they hold it there.  Sunday they were talking about several other options.

Add to that air fare, hotel and food, rental car and parking.  Or one of us could drive from a central point.

What week is the Austin race?

That was a great last two laps. Watched it twice.

Magic brake is something I?ll have to read about.

Vettel seemed sheepishly happy. Checko was thrilled, but respectful of the bad luck of his teammate.

Make the right choices now

GJ, carbon-carbon brakes don't work well when they are cold so you need to have some heat in them to work properly.  To prep the car for a race they preheat the brakes by having a setting that allows the brake to drag and build some heat.  Having a brake the drags is not ideal for racing so they need to be able to turn it off after the brakes are at temp.  Normal braking will then keep temps in the system and it's not an issue.

I would guess "brake magic" is that feature.  Failing to turn it off after the brakes are hot can cause all kinds of problems like going from second to last in just one turn.

And his brakes were definitely hot.

GJ - the first race is the weekend of 22-24 Oct.   The second one hasn't been confirmed yet.  That is the one I am talking aboout.

Those brakes were smoking!

Critter I would probably grab a flight out of here into Dallas and then drive down.  If we could meet up in Dallas that would mean one rental car.

Depends on gas prices but it's about a 5.5hr flight one way and burns about 9.5 gal/hr.  So assuming $6/gal its about $650 round trip.
