I put my new Sky black and red drivers door panel on
« on: August 14, 2011, 06:00:12 PM »
This turn out to be a bigger job than I though it would be. I had to lenthen the wires going to the power mittor switch. There or nine wires to the switch. I think they or 22 gage wires. I made it about a foot longer. There or two tan with white strip, and two gray with a white strip, so mark them before you cut them so to make sure you get the right wires back to each other. The othe hard part that I have was getting the little trim piece off behine the door opening handle. Looks like it has to be remove from the back but there is very little room to get it. I broke mine. I am going to drill a small hole in the trim piece before I put it back on. As there is a screw that has to be remove there to let the door panel come off. Also the cable that goes to the door handle is hard to remove, and the clip is very easy to brake, as I broke mine. Hope this helps some one else that is panning to do this.

You can apply a piece of velcro to the back of it and that will hold it back on.

You would have to brake off the tangs, or you would still not get it off.
Also it look like I will have to get a Saturn Sky door pull trim piece as the Solstice does not seem to fit the Sky door panels.

Hmmm.  Maybe you were doing it wrong.  Many folks have had the door panels off (for sound deadening, for instance) and I haven't heard of anyone breaking the cable clip.  It just slides up and off.

Getting it back on now, that can be a pain - if you don't know the trick: http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php/topic,4722.msg62488.html#msg62488

No, I was referring to the small panel that covers the screw beneath the door release handle.

I had not though about selling them but if some one wants to buy them I would.  If some one wants them they need to speek up soon before I throw away the boxes that the new ones came in.

Oh by the way how do you change the colar of the lights on the switchs. The switchs have the plastic melted to the door panel. I have read about this and I was thinking they where able to that the switchs apart. I am not seeing how. Does any one here know? Also I have new Sky steering wheel that I will be putting on, and what colar or the lights on it? And if they or white how do you change them?

               Thanks

Not sure about the door lock switches, but the window switches should pop out (if the Sky's are the same as the Sol's). See: http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php/topic,4722.msg62487.html#msg62487

The Sky steering wheel lights are Amber.  Easy just to swap your Sol's switches with the Sky ones - I know they are the same. (I got a Sky Bluetooth switch pad for my Sol)

Even if you don't sell them the box makes an excellent storage container to protect them from getting scratched.  Keep the boxes either way.

Presuming the Air Bag is out (off the wheel) there's just a single screw on each side (IIRC).  Undo the screw and the switch pivots out.  Easy to see once you have it in front of you. See my post at: http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php/topic,5377.msg74051.html#msg74051
