Looks killer SB, make sure you post vids to YouTube.

I agree w/hood comments would like to something more between stock & wild, though as I've said before if I could do what SB did I'd want to show the sucker off via a ZR1 window.

I hope it drives as good as it sounds.  What kind of warranty did works offer.  I bet you spent a quite a bit of coin and would like to know it wasn't all for naught.

Alas, driver will be quite late tonight, so we scheduled delivery for first thing tomorrow.  All good things...

As for warranty, I am confident that Werks' craftsmanship will hold up well over time.  I also know that if something goes wrong, Dave will make it right.  It was indeed a spendy endeavor, but I did get a substantial discount for allowing my car to be the live install vehicle for the nationals.  My car also ended up being a one-off install with a lot of custom pieces, and the most powerful Kappa ever to spin the dyno at PA.  Once you get into this kind modding, warranties are not the norm.  I do know that my car was flawless for two years with Werks big wheel turbo and other goodies to 400 hp on the 2.0, so I am more than confident that the 6.2 and much stronger T56 will hold up as well.  As I said, if a problem does arise, Dave will make it right.  I am more than pleased with all the extra time they took to put this together and make sure it was right before it left their shop -- I am certain it was much more time than they planned for, and never once did Werks ask to modify the bill.

Since I cannot give the driving impressions that I hoped for, here is one more photo  of the car, as it was being detailed at Werks last week:

Although I am generally anti hood scoop, that one is slowly growing on me.  Not sure the appearance would be better if it had been a bulge instead.  I imagine that there isn't a lot of clearance between engine and scoop, so they were suitably conservative about it.

I'm looking forward to your driving experiences.  Keep the traction control (they retained that, didn't they?) on for the first while, right!!

Interesting you mention that as I asked Dave how the traction control would deal with the extra power and torque.  He said it handles it like stock -- wheelspin is wheelspin.  Don't worry, I'll ease into it, so to speak.

ease into the first burnout?

I will let you know TC on the vette is about useless. Lays nice 345mm stripes with the TC on.

SB, I'd think of it as money well spent because hopefully it will be something you will enjoy for a long, long time.

It's far from useless. Just try it without the TC on and see what you get!

You can't blame lack of traction on TC when it is really a tire to road issue limited by the surface of both.  All TC can do is make sure that those long strips you lay are double, not single, although if you've ever tried that sort of burn out in a car with no LSD, you don't lay strips, you just sit there and spin one tire.

In regard to laying rubber, the limited joy of burning up your money and rubber while making squealing noises is pretty much lost on me, despite the fact that many people seem fascinated by it, even to the point of watching people do it until their tires burst.

I love hitting a stop light beside some git in a Camaro or something, who fancies all the noise and smoke he can produce.  Except I don't get to see much of it as I am usually far ahead of him, having left very little smoke and having made very little noise in one of my cars, the Fiero.  Mid-engine trumps front  engine most of the time.  No drama, just very quick forward motion.  I'll leave all the sturm und drang to you drama queens....

Wish I had some Fieros around so I could cause some drama and leave them in my rubber smoke because shy of some serious mods, one of those would not be beating my kappa and definitely not a corvette

Absolutely correct. The couple of decades in between the Fiero and the next Pontiac sports car, the Kappa, had some big advances in technology.  A stock V6 Fiero is nowhere near as fast as even an NA Solstice.

I was speaking of my own Fiero, which weighs 300 lbs. less than a Solstice and has about 40 BHP more than a stock GXP.  The traction advantage of those cars, assuming you have enough power to matter, is not subtle.

I'm still waiting for someone to quit screwing around with sticking old technology Chev V8s into their Fieros (they seem to be a favourite car for swapping engines) and put a tuned LNF engine in there!

Just went for a quick drive and took it very easy out of the gate.  Clearly, it is very different - a little hard to describe.  It drives bigger, heavier -- not so much that you notice the weight of the engine -- it is just the beefiness of everything.  The clutch is stiffer, the shifts are heavier and notchier, the engine, just so full of torque.  The sounds are amazing.  The first thing I did was take the top off and put it away as I never drive with the top on.  Thus, I got the full compliment of sounds -- there is a supercharger whine, but very subtle, and the LS3 is loud but not crazy - probably just like a Vette with an exhaust -- not nearly as prominent as the LS3 in my old G8 (that had a big open intake, Kooks headers, high-flow cats and Corsa exhaust).  Remember, the suspension has all new coilovers and the brakes are big Rotoras all around -- but the ride feels great and the stopping feels the same as before as far as pedal feel and no noise or squeaks, etc.  Tossing the car back and forth feels quite similar to before, so I don't notice much as far as front end weight goes.  I know there was a spirited discussion here about the V8 weight distribution actually being better than the 2.0 since it sits further back toward the firewall -- Dave also modified the mounts on this car to sit further back and lower than on his other swaps.

Also, I was pleased to find first gear very usable in town.  I think much of it is getting used to the car again.  It has been nearly a year since I drove it, so some of the difference is the fact that the last vehicle I drove yesterday was my wife's Sienna minivan..

I assume the clutch will loosen up a bit and the shifting may smooth out as well as I break them in.  I have not driven a Z06, so I don't know how those drive to begin with.

Anyway, I look forward to much more time behind the wheel and will report back as I go.  For sure, I need to thank Dave Gilbert and Performance Autowerks for the amazing job on this build.  They went way above and beyond the call of duty with so many one-off parts and everything fits like a glove and works perfectly.  No CELs, no hiccups, no issues whatsoever.  And the engine bay looks like it was designed for the blown LS3 -- everything is neatly placed and impeccably installed.

Oh, and the hood is even better in person, and, I think, a perfect match for the personality of this car.  Subtle and clean, but functional.  Kudos also to Norm, whose fender vents look great and, according to Dave, greatly reduce engine temps as the scoop brings in the cool air and the vents vacate it.

Stay tuned...

I think his car is shiny on both sides...

And I wonder what SHiNY thinks about everyone telling each other to keep her side up?

Lastly, SBindley....  Where are the pictures and video??????

At some point, I'll get some vids up, but photos would be redundant as this thread is full of them, inside and out, from every angle.   Also, there is a dyno video on the previous page.  I do need to do some drive-bys.

Awsome car! Enjoy!
