I'm in, if these do make it to production. On a side note, I really hope the avatar above with the blade wheels is fake.

LOL, I could not care any less whether someone loathes or loves my wheel as long as it turns heads.  Objective has been met many times over.

I see, I'm not judging, as everyone's entitled to their preferences, and I can appreciate going for a different look, even if it's not my taste. I'm just surprised to see those on a solstice. I was more accustomed to that on the Crown Vic forum when I had my Mercury. Back on topic.

There are some great pictures of the grills there Dave. The blue car you mentioned was a concept car in 2006 from GM called the GXP-R. You can find more information on it here.
Interesting... learn something new every day! Seeing the close up pictures I notice the grills are still different than the club racer, if only subtle differences.
btw, has anyone else noticed that most of the GM concept Solstices had body color door handles? Thats kindof like the company telling you even they dont like the chrome handles.. :idk:

That was one thing I didn't like about the inset grills - that they didn't match the foglight ones.
Could've had a base model! lol :D

1. There's a hard foam backing insert behind the urethane bumper cover that adds support to the urethane cover.
2. The hard foam backing is attached to the stamped metal impact bar.
3. Rudy's recessed design instructs customers to melt & remove a few inches of the hard foam so the grills can be recessed properly.

I considerd removing some of the foam anyway. You can see it through the stock grille and it would look cleaner without it. I'm debating on waiting for the recessed grilles so I know exactly how much to cut and don't remove too much.

Sorry I haven't gotten much done with the design of late, I suddenly got covered up with the day job.  I will try and at least spend some time with the grills this evening.

SA,

Nice job on the Campain trail.  Your work to influence the vote the last few weeks was well worth your time away from the design of the grills.  I think your work in Ohio was really the kicker in how yesterday went.  Now that it is over, and you have had some time to sleep, get back to the grills.

Sol Asylum, you notice from the measurements that I took that the grills have a different setback at different places. I'm thinking that the reason for that is that Rudy brought the ring out farther at the bottom to make the ring flush with the bumper. The setback on the Club Racer grills looks the same all around. With the front edge of the ring that clips into the bumper the same as the stock ring, the same setback all around might be just the ticket.

Get to it when you get the chance. Most of us have a life outside of the Solstice although you wouldn't know it sometimes when you look at all the time I spend here.

great looking grills for the car.  I wonder if it's possible to do the grills around the turn signal/fog light on the GXP? They have a tendancey to warp over time.

I am usually the one drifting threads but how did this get to be about whether I wear underwear?  Which I do if it makes any difference.

And I guess you all are right I didn't find the grill I  drew it.  So what do you think are they recessed enough?

Wouldn't that by undergrillwear?

Threads do seem to take on a life of their own.

Now back on topic.  The edge of the grill appears to be too sharp.  Will the new design be a one piece grill?
