Big 3 Audio Upgrade - Power Cables - Ground - Alternator
« on: June 09, 2014, 08:23:20 AM »
I own a 2007 Saturn Sky. Has anyone done the Big 3 Audio upgrade, power cable, ground wire cable. So, how did u do it. It seem the toughest part would be adding the power cable. If someone has done it is there a post or link to the instructions.

Yes, it's a repost because apparently posting it once in the audio/ nav section where it belongs wasn't enough. Noobs...go figure...

OK so we give them 5 posts and then we hijack their threads, heckle them, run them off, etc.  I like it!

Gentalman Jack, thanks for the welcome. I been on for about a year. I been able to find answers to questions I have in the past, thus no reason for me to comment or post untill the issue I have now. And I found these answers to past questions using the search facility. I wont post something unless I find the information I need. The keywords I tried did not get me the info I need, so that is why I posted. Anyways Jack, thanks again for the welcome.

Yeah I like to jump in now and then, but mostly I just lurk.

I try to make zero worthwhile contributions and add no value of any sort to anything as often as possible. I'm just a post whore and attention loving, drama queen. It's not easy, but someone has to do it. It's why I post all the time.

The necessity to do a big 3 upgrade depends on what you plan on pushing. I'll assume that you plan on pushing equipment that will require a large current draw. Replacing the battery to chassis ground and chassis to engine block wires should be easy enough since they are both located (for the most part) right underneath the hood. The difficult one will be the wire from the positive connection on the battery to the alternator. I haven't looked at the alternator connection, but if the terminal post on the alternator will hold a large enough terminal lug it shouldn't be too difficult a task, IMO.

I guess another question is just how much add on equipment can you add to the Kappa given the space constraints?  Spicy/Spikey did a major audio upgrade including cutting out and changing the bulkhead behind the seats just to add space, not sure that he had any power supply problems though.
