Was really fun being there. The roar arrives almost 3 seconds later from the distance we were at, but it's a great place to see the launch from, particularly with a good camera and lens.

had it changed right before we left on vacation, odds are the tech only put in 2 quarts, the odd noises turned out to be the missing oil, not the throw out bearing, amazing how quiet it became once it had the full compliment of Mobil 1...the owner will be getting a letter, and will know that if their screw up causes any residual issues, they will be paying some one else to make it right...makes me sick to think I was screaming down Hellbender, and assorted other mountain back roads, plus all the highway miles for hours every day, on 2 qts..suffice it to say, I won't trust them to touch any of my vehicles, ever again. CEL for the cam pos sensor quit going off, also.

I hope everything is good to go now.

Unbelievable that your car is 3qts. down & no oil light :banghead:  :banghead: :banghead:  :slap: GM :slap:
Here's to many rides with the top down, wind in your hair & the  hammer down.  :drag: :brnout: :drive:

Holy cow, you saw that with your own eyes?

I just realized that picture is made by you and you witnessed everything, so cool, seems like the launch is some feeling generator.

This one was at 8:56 this am, not sure when Bobby's was. It was very overcast and gray. I have before pics that almost look black and white. Needless to say the shuttle really lit up under the clouds and made it look almost like it had been launched at dawn/dusk. I have plenty more pics and a video.

Kelu,
It was really a great time. The weather for driving was perfect. I was able to put some miles on my new tires to break them in and get some good pictures.

Aspen Rose - Glad to hear that you found your problem!  If it were mine, I would get an oil analysis pronto to look for any high metal content in the oil.  That would be a good indicator of any damage to bearings and journals.

Good luck!
yep oil analysis will be done, used to having it done with every oil change when I was driving semi, will find a shop that can do it, typically one that caters to big rigs understand the process, may be able to just pick up the kit with the mailer, and do it myself. May very well need the ammo...

I have the same camera and lens,  awesome combo!  What time of day was that and what were your settings?

Have you tried the 1.4x or 2.0x extender for it?  It's great for daylight, but you loose your auto focus...

I was on manual, f 5.6, 1/2000, standard picture, cloudy awb, taken at 8:57am.
Haven't tried the extended yet, I have looked at them though. I don’t mind manually focusing my lens.

J_Bond, How do you like the H11 LEDs in the fogs?       I didn't know that they made an H11 LED!  Where did you get them?   :idk:

Found them on amazon.com  just search 'H11 LED' and they'll come up.  they look just like HID's, but not as bright.

Today I Zaino'd the whole car twice and then de-badged every single emblem on the car for a cleaner look.  the whole car is totally black :)
Installed HELLA audi-style LED's accessory lights under the bumper because I am so SICK of people not seeing me in their rear view mirror!  I was almost ran off the road by an F-250 today!!!!
I think it's silly these cars were not fit with true HID kits from the factory like modern motorcycles so traffic can see this tiny car better.... the front end needs to sparkle...

Installed a heat-blanket over the headers to speed up exhaust gasses through the system today as well.  did not like the slotted rotors on the rear so ordered some slotted & dimpled EBC rotors to match the front set. I'd like to find some white decals that say "Sky" for my black calipers.   BTW, EBC rotors with Thermo-quiet ceramic pads are fantastic.  definitely a step up from stock!  and lighter!

Yes, I'm on vacation.  Yes, this is what I like to do when I am on vacation  :)  LOL

Were you using a tripod?  With the extender, even with IS on you pretty much have to or a the least a monopod.  It turns F/5.6 into F11.2 so you'd either have to decrease your speed or raise your ISO to get a good stop action shot.

I'd really like to get EF 800mm F/5.6L IS, but mostly just for spying on the neighbors!

Spring sucks, drove the coupe to work for the first time this year and more rain is being predicted starting tomorrow.  Kind of fun to watch people walk by it going: whazat?

BTW, if you want to check out an amazing shuttle pic:

the one from the ground is cool, the one from the airline passenger is amazing.
