S.P. How difficult is it to change both? Is there a DIY for this? Thanks!

Changing both is very easy. Hardest part is cleaning up the mess, and having to deal with the smell of the gear oil. That stuff is foul!  :barf:

I used this thread as reference for changing the tranny fluid:
http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f12/changing-transmission-fluid-think-twice-45071/

This one for changing diff fluid:
http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f59/diff-gear-oil-change-additive-pictures-included-39636/

For pumping the oil back into the tranny/diff I highly recommend using a hand pump like this one:
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_MULTI-USE-PUMP-Custom-Accessories_7071094-P_N3243_T|GRP2035____

Let me note that I had access to a lift when doing both tasks. Working at a leisurely pace, it took me little over an hour to change the transmission fluid. I spent barely an hour changing the differential fluid.

Good luck, and enjoy!

SP,
Had mine down by Randy and Joe, when they pulled the trans to replace the clutch during my stage III install.  Had the diff done at the same time and have never looked back.  Tranny is hard to refill in place

It's not so bad when using the right tooling for the job. At first attempt, I tried to siphon the oil from the bottle into the tranny using one of these:

Very bad call. I was making little to no progress with that. Would have taken me hours, if not days, to get through one bottle. Luckily, someone was able to loan me a hand pump. Had it filled back up in minutes.

A few days ago I drained my transmission fluid and put in Royal Purple. That smoothed out my shifts to a good degree. I used to have a rough time shifting from 1st to 2nd at 3k rpm. That's became a thing of the past. Shifting into first also became easier. The overall difference was noticeable, but nothing earth shattering.

Today I drained the diff and put in Royal Purple. Man what a difference! This is a fantastic product!!! I would frequently get a grinding noise when letting of the gas while in gear. That's been cured. Somehow, my shifting seems to feel even smoother now, and driving feels lighter. Everything is as smooth as butter on hot cakes. I haven't had shifting feel so effortless since driving a Miata.

If you still have the factory fluids in your tranny and diff, I highly recommend draining it and putting in Royal Purple. Having it in both the tranny and diff have made a world of difference. I'll be taking scenic routes more often from now on.  :drive:  :yay:

SP can you pls start this RP stuff into a new thread, seems quite promising and i feel it deserves a topic of its own for future reference...

Day was awesome, but the kappa sat in the garage all day.

Today I played on the competition courses for 4 wheeling.
Scary fun at 2mph.   It's incredible how grippy concrete is with my tires
Didn't stop us from almost putting my jeep on it's roof.

Funny thing is, I really need to get used to that to be successful.  Fortunately my fellow Off-Road Club founder and DNC club mate are the 3 year in a row Champions.  So I have the best coaches.

Speaking of which, I have been working on our website and we finally launched it 2 weeks ago.  It's done in wordpress.
http://www.DaZeDnConFuZeD.net
We have some nice pictures and an article from last weekend. 10-3-2010
we used to use PhpBB2 for our forum, but the Boss helped me setup an SMF forum. [its private, sorry]

Normally 4:1 or 5:1 Transfer cases and 4.88 or 5:13 gears in the axles.
Most of the time, you can idle up the stuff we climb if you have traction.

Follow-UP

Well The Turbo had a crack in the housing and the seals were leaking . Theres a dent near the top of my fender on the Door side. They said its from cutting the brace and now there is no support there and fender was pinching the door when opened .I also had to Clean the finger prints off . The tech said he drove it about 10 miles hard and checked and no Oil anywhere BUT told me to check the oil in a few days .

Driving it to work in the Morning and will check oil after work

I'm confused

You have a dent in the fender, the piece between the tire, the door and the hood?  and that pinched your door?

I have had my lambos as long as anyone and have not had a problem with either the hood, the door or the fender, and my fenders are now fiberglass.

X2

I've had my Vertical doors for a long time and never had an issue.
Only thing I can think of is if the door is not aligned properly but I highly doubt that is the case.
