Jim,
Not really. You know when it is sent and when it arrives. If you go online there is nothing like UPS and Fedex. Once it leaves its departure point you can't track it from one hub to another. They are working on that now. I worked for USPS for 22 years.

Yeah, you are probably right. They always delivered, so I never had to track it.

On the other hand, for 1/3 the price of UPS or FedEx for reasonably sized items, I'm OK with that.

I just got a package delivered by USPS. The tracking number never showed up in their Tracking until after it was delivered.

Don't you love that.  Their tracking equates to, updating after you already received it.  Sucks for the senders / receivers because stuff does get lost and they have no idea on how to figure where it is.
With their huge ad push right now, they really need to add that capability.

Pretty cool, I just entered 2 tracking numbers from Crate Engine Depot for the headlights I just ordered yesterday and it told me I'd be receiving them today.  But I wonder why they didn't put the headlights in one package?  Seems like it would have been cheaper.

USPS tracking worked fine when sending Kelu his parts. It wasn't perfect, but UPS was 3x the price of USPS.

Norm should spend the $.75 for USPS track and confirm, he doesn't.  I had the same issue.  He uses parcel post or something w/insurance.

I use track and confirm when sending the Solstice Books and I can follow them across the US online.

Not to bust on JVB but I've never had a problem tracking USPS before a packages reaches it's destination.

UPS also likes to charge the receiver a "brokerage fee" when you ship internationally.

It was 80 in the DC area and it dropped like 20-30 degrees overnight. We're not out of the woods yet either.

Not bustin, like I said, I never tried. I use USPS weekly to ship my products, and never have an issue. I only use tracking when shipping a large number of DVDs at once. Usually I ship them in 104 DVD sets. Not worth tracking if they get lost since they very rarely do.

Nothing new, but still annoying as hell!

I'm eating lunch at Subway today and sitting by the window. I parked very carefully trying to minimize the chance of issues. Of course that was futile. This soccor mom pulls up in her oversized SUV and parks close. I'm watching as she gets out, phone firmly in her ear, and doesn't quite hit my car with her door. Unfortunately, her moronic son flings the rear door open and whacks my car. He knew it too, I could see him looking!  :gaah: Mom never notices and kept on blabbering away on the phone as they headed into the store.

I finished lunch and went out to survey the damage. Nice little blue dimple in my silver car. I left a nice note to her, but fully expect not to hear anything back. It was all I could do not to bash in her door!  :banghead:

My car isn't perfect, and I expect it will gain more dings, but damn people, at least pretend to care!  :slap:

Hopefully you called the police and also reported this to your insurance carrier. The insurance company will track her down through the license plate number and make sure she (or her insurance company) is held responsible for the repairs. People like that need to learn they will be held accountable for the damage.

each one of them is actually a big box

You want these in two separate boxes...I bought my set from CED and the padding in the box is around the lights...to me it looks like they are the same boxes the head lights are packaged in from the factory...where ever that is or was.  But you want the individual boxes and moded padding for protection.

Now when I received my lights from CED, I am pretty sure the boxes were tapped together, like one unit, instead of sent separately.

Sorry this is in this thread, but I am seeing comments about shipping prices.

UPS and Fedex are privately held companies, USPS is not.

USPS subsidies its package delivery prices by increasing the postage stamp price and it is subsidied by the US Federal Government.

These 3 entitities are not governed by the same rules, but they all compete for the same package delivery revenue.

Also Fedex is considered an Airline, UPS is considered a trucking company in the eyes of the US government.  Because of this Fedex gets additional benefits that UPS does not, even considering UPS has the larges Airplane fleet in the world.

The bottom line, USPS is cheaper to ship with.

Again sorry for the interruption.
