Unfortunately, no. Might have to take a cast off a GXP and an NA to find out the difference.

Sorry Dave but I was referring to DDM Dave.
Wartie's name is the same as yours Bob :poke:

He was just relaying what Dave had told us that he only has the cad file for the NA.

Hey DBG do you still have that cracked GXP front bumper cover off of Sal's car and maybe a set of grills?

Bob,
Some up close pictures would be a great help, maybe hold a tape measure in the picture for reference. I am also taking a stab at this. I could really use a depth or recess measurement as well.

Agreed we need to get an idea of how far the grills are recessed.

Dave as per our agreement here is my attempt at payment

Will that work?

Need clarification.  Pics or access to the uninstalled set?

I'm not even sure what type of composite Rudy used, it's similar to plaster paris.  That's the reason the installation taps break, there's no flexibility in the tabs due to the composite they were molded in.

Whereas the OEM plastic grill and tabs are molded in the same type of plastic but the taps still have a little flexibility that allows for repeated installation or removal.

Also, Rudy design is two parts*.  The outer recessed inset grill with molded in tabs, and the inner separate hexagon grill.  Which is why you either have to use silicon or fine screws to hold them inside the outer recessed grill.

*four actual pieces.  L/R recessed grill, plus L/R hexagon grill.

That is very interesting about the two part design, that was actually one of my thoughts on a design. SA is taking the lead on the design, I will let him chime in on the grilles. Access to uninstalled grilles would probably help him the most.

The two piece design is nice in the fact that it's easy to paint the grills a diffent color than the outside ring. I found that worked well in my case and they look great installed as long as you don't look too close.   :2c:

Here's what they looked like installed.

I'd be interested in paying a few bucks into a pot via PayPal to help with shipping and development costs to help bring these to fruition.

I was going to pull the recessed grills off the car this winter to modify the mounting system to use screws to mount them to the bumper and to have the outer rings repainted. Now I think I'll hold off until we see how this goes.

With regard to how much they are recessed I need to know how far from the outer flange the honeycomb is set back.

As far as one part or two parts that is yet to be determined.

You should be able to see from the picture what I need is how far back is the grill moved.  Once I get that it shouldn't be too hard to draw in the missing part.

How difficult would it be to do alternatives to the recessed honeycomb.  For example vertical lines (a La Morgan or old Jag)?

Just have to draw it but it could be done.  Production cost would probably be the big factor.

Ahhh - I thought they were being plastic-printed, so the design was to be the only cost delta.  My bad.

I guess that could be a means of production too.  Once we get a model finished up we can look into things like that.

Looks like the sides of the rings could be a little bit tapered or sloped and the grill a little smaller. Here's a close up of the rings on the BB.
