The Autozone guy said heat/env may have been the reason and let me switch.  Same price so it was no biggie.  Not sure it had anything to do with the full recycled oil container I had lugged in with me

An 06 NA is a far cry from an 08 LNF.  And unless you can explain to me how I'm interpreting the weight indications of oil, I would think 10w-30 would be more of a problem on a car designed to run 5w-30 than 5w-40 on a car with a turbo, particularly if you are running plus 16 psi of boost (stock).

Just telling you what the book says, for what used to be my car (when it was stock) the only recommended oil was 5w30,  and it specified to 40 weights to avoid.  I don't dispute your interpretation at all just stating what it says.  What does your book say?

I sucked it up and called my insurance company to file another claim.  About 6 months ago I filed my last claim for running over a piece of concrete which dented the front K-Member and put a hole in the oil pan.  Repairs cost $5k!  After that claim, my premiums doubled, so I was more than a little hesitant to call and file a new claim.  Latest incident was about 3 weeks ago.  I was driving on a busy Houston freeway (US 59 - AKA: Southwest Fwy.) and I changed lanes.  I was busy looking over my right shoulder to be sure that I could merge with the traffic in the next lane when BLAM!!  I didn't notice until too late that there was a "Gator" (18 wheeler truck tire tread) directly ahead of me!  The Gator dented my front bumper, took out my right inner fender liner and shattered the right front fender.  Here are the pics, Kelu:

I went to the body shop and they estimated $1,700 to fix it all!

It couldn't have happened at a worse time!  I just got divorced and I have to move out of the house and into an apartment on 7/21 - a week from Saturday.  And I don't have rent car coverage.  Hopefully, my son will let me borrow his truck during the week but I'll be without wheels on the weekends until the car is fixed.

Now I'm on pins and needles hoping that my insurance doesn't get cancelled!  Oh well........   :violin:

That should be no fault or comprehensive and the state should have cleared that off the road.

I am sorry to hear about all of the other problems.

Thanks again, Elff!  I have found that they work really well for AutoX and have much better wet weather traction than the stock Goodyears.

So your only concern is insurance being canceled? You can't go with another?

In the end is just metal which can be fixed, you are most important.

Cheer up, you drive a Kappa ;)

You're right, Kelu: there is always insurance available somewhere.  I just have a lot of stuff with my ex that is dragging me down right now, and the thought of shopping for a new insurance policy, at prolly much higher price, really bothers me!

I just got back from a quick trip to the post office.  It did cheer me up!  There is no better car for me than the Saturn Sky Redline!  Kappas rock!

Wow Yogi, didn't know it was that easy to lose coverage.  I mean, I know if you get up to like 7 ish demerit points, around when you are basically losing your license anyways, it can be very hard to get coverage, and that which you can find is very expensive.  But I can't see how 2 or even 3 claims can cause you the insurance company to dump you.  However, while this seems extreme to me, where I live, car insurance is outrageous!  I'm moving end of month, and my car insurance is dropping like $130/month!

IDK.  Maybe I'm just a little over-paranoid, but with 3 claims in 2 years and my rates doubling to $689/6 mos. I'm not sure what to expect next.

Sounds like you have quite a project going there, CS!  I hope that you get it all worked out!

Good luck!

Last night I built my new shock spring combination.
Bilstein Shocks with the ZOK Springs
I removed the B&G coil overs and installed the rear ones last night
Today I did the fronts.   I was expecting to fight the fronts, but I've done this so many times now it was easy as cake.  Only issue was my hips being b1tches.

CDFlint asked
Elf, I thought you really liked the B&Gs.

I did, they performed excellent.  Problem is where I live.  I have a range of truly awesome roads and some really craptastic ones that will get you.  They are currently installing new underground water run off pipes 1 street off mine which is forcing me to take a route to work on one of those crappy roads.

Here is the end result of what has occurred due to the height of the sky and the crappy roads
This is the shroud that protects the intercooler.  Dead center

Now you might be like,  OOOO Elf, stop being a little wuss, that's not that bad
Well here is a picture of that shroud under the passenger corner of the intercooler

Please take note of the fact that I scraped it so low that not only did I burn off a chunk, the weld pattern of the intercooler imprinted into the plastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

So then you might Ask.
But Elff, couldn't you increase the height of the B&G's

I could give it some more height, but at that point, I felt like it would be a waste.   I know the height of the ZOK springs and I know the performance of them matched with the GM Bilsteins and it's an excellent combination for my driving environment.  Not to mention, they won the SCCA T2 championship 3 years in a row with this setup.   Since I am not even close to the skill level of Don Knowles, these should be more than adequate for my Sky.   As such, it was an easy decision to go back to them.

And the last question someone might as is
Are you going to sell these.

The Answer is No.  But you can possible win them.  All you will have to do is Show up to SMMM9 and buy some raffle tickets.
There is one Gotcha
If you win the B&G's and later decide to sell them.  All Proceeds must go to the Hosts of the SMMM.   No Exceptions and I will be putting together a document that the winner will need to sign.

I'm trying to do something but can't  :idk:  I just can't get that console (handbrake area) off. I can snap the end near the waterfall off, but can't get the other end to lift and slide out.

Ask me if I'm irritated right now. THAT and the 100F almost temp.  :cryin:

You lifted the handle first to the parking brake engaged position I would assume? If so it should slide right off.

There is a clip in the center at the front that has to be popped off, plus the two tabs at either side of the front that slide under the piece in front.
