My understanding is that metal ability to dent has a direct correlation on if the metal was tempered (heated) to make it stronger.  Gets into the chemistry/metallurgical fields, and since many of our body panels used the hydroformed (water pressure) method the tensile strength of the metal probably played a significant role.

BTW, just so you know you can buy hail damage car covers for your car.

From what I remember of my materials science class and my time trying to cool steel in steel mills, I agree.  The only other possibility is debris hit the hood during the storm.  I know the ding wasn't there in Asheville, because I have pictures of the hood.  I've only driven the car twice since then and I washed the hood before it rained.  I'm extremely picky about bugs and marks so I would have seen the dent before the storm because I spent a lot of time getting the bugs off the hood before the storm.  The ding stuck out like a sore thumb afterwards.

I did have it parked just in front of the garage door during the storm.  So maybe something could have come off the roof, but it wasn't windy because I had the windows open in the house and the rain wasn't coming in.  Anyway, I'll have someone look at both the dents again and see what can be done.  If I would have thought it was going to rain that hard, I would have just pulled the car in the garage.

Tinted the side markers and the headlights, not sure I like the headlights just yet  :idk:   Painted the window switches black since the red clashed with color scheme.

Also cleaned the very dirty engine compartment!  I use to be more consistent in cleaning there but it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a LONG time!

Next weekend the red stripe will be replaced with a burgundy one and go from front to back.  Next simple mod may be to tint the windows  :idk:

I put the top down, and drove to-and-from work, again.  Does this count?

Damn GypsySky that looks awesome.

I think you should Debadge the back.   Take off the Sky and turbo

Gabes,
How do you like those.  They are the one Coilover that is extremely close to the spring rates of the ZOK springs.
1KG/mm stiffere front and rear.

Theory should be the handling is a little tighter but still very street friendly

Today I
Changed the Oil and Filter.  5 Quarts of new Mobil 1 5w-30
Changed out to my .035 gapped 41-108 Spark Plugs.
Filled Half the tank with E85

Loaded my E47 Tune from Skynet
Need to put some more miles on the car to let the gas and E85 mix more before thrashing it, but this should be fun!!

I noticed that on the headlights.  That's what I'm talking about.  Although I wonder how the surround would look in plastidip with the black gloss of the car.  Hmmm.  The grill is fine so it might work.  I want to do the door handles, but I'm waiting for the report on how they hold up!

One of the original intended uses for plasti dip was to replace the handles of tools like say pliers.  So if it can hold up to tools, I'm sure it would hold up better to automotive paint.

I've got all the pictures, and more.  If there's interest, I could put a thread together when I'm done.

Just having a bite, and getting back to this project again.

I drove my car today!

"Big deal." I hear you say?  Maybe, but we've been in Florida for 8 weeks - got back yesterday when it was raining - and it's dry and sunny this afternoon, so off I went!  Car started with a bit of a stuggle - prolly because I didn't leave it on a trickle charger - but start it did.

So whats the next get-together in the DC-MD-VA area?

The corn is gonna be real expensive real soon. Because there will be almost no crop this year. Prices are over $8.50/bushel. And that's insane!
My dad's neighbor gave up and turned his crop into insurance already. A bunch of illinois farmers were starting to do the same. Which means they harvest nothing, cut the field down and try again next year.

It's too stressed to pollinate. :(

It's the config Terminator uses.   You could pm him on SkyRoadster but I would not feel right giving it away without his permission.

I can run 93 Octane whenever I want so if it gets too expensive I'll just wait.
It sure is fun though.

Elff,
I assume you would just switch tunes?  Or does Term have a way to run both?

Sir GJ,

Term does not have a way to run both. Term simply has two tunes(for which each one has been custom tailored for your car) one for 93 and the other for E. Elf would just simply load the 93 tune in from a file where he had both saved. Take roughly 30sec to upload via HP Tuners.

And  about 2- 3 tanks of gas for the ECU to fully relearn any changes too it.

Solo Mach Shorty arrived Thursday, had it installed by local Muffler Man Friday AM, sounds acceptable even wo/resonators in the coupe.  Fact is wouldn't minding it sounding a tad louder (maybe because it's an auto?) Performance increase? Seems to feel a little more peppy but might me my imagination since I'm a cruiser and not racer.  Uncut GXP exhaust will be transferred to our 2.4.

Oh, and didn't make it to RT66 Take 2 Shindig :(  Neighbors home broke into, stole 2 flatscreens/1 bicycle, and found out several more houses in neighborhood had recently been broken into.  Suspect kids, but ended up not feeling comfortable leaving w/sonsof:censor: e$ B&E the neighborhood.
