Due to an unlucky moment i had to replace the front bumper. Tha car is white vinyl wrapped, so the new bumper is black like the rest of the car is underneath the vinyl. The guys that wrapped my car are out of town until next week, so i had to do something as for the car not to look awkward being white with a black bumper. Having some mat white vinyl remainings from a diy project i made in the past in an old car of mine, i used some to make the car more friendly to the eye and the bumper to look like it's on purpose that way, and so to be able to drive it around until the vinyl guys arrive. Some opinions would be nice to drop, i myself like it. Post is more worthy with some pics....

Looks good Kagem, have you given any thought of getting in the vinyl business?

White on black is similar to green on white so I knowhow large of a contrast there is.

Great Job!

Thanks Jeremy, i don't intend to get in the vinyl business, it's not an easy job to do, a couple of hours and then your whole body hurts! Greg i'll leave it as it is, i can't see any other area i can wrap and look normal....

I had mine covered in the parking lot for 3 days of rain.  When I took the cover off yesterday, it had micro scratches all over it from the wind buffeting the cover. There was a scheduled power outage all day on base so I couldn't use the buffer.  I but a coat of Black Hole glaze on by hand which helped a little.

Since there is absolutely nothing to do on base with no power, I decided to drive down to Busan where I partied til 4 am.  It's now almost 9, my head is pounding and all I can think about doing is checking out of the motel, wiping the car down and going for the 2 hour drive back to Pohang.  Maybe after another bottle of water! LOL!!!

As it was a nice afternoon here I pulled charge and intake hoses off my turbo as I wanted to take a look for any oil from the pcv value and the health of the compressor wheel. Sure enough there was some oil in the intake hose, not a lot and it looked old (sticky to the inside of the hose), looks like it was coming from the PCV value. When I disconnected the other port which runs from the front end of the case to the intake hose it had a slight film of oil but to be honest it might have been splash from the pcv port.

I sense a new PCV value and catch can in my future... I'm now considering a dual can for both lines so I can see if there is oil coming from both.

Compressor wheel looked good though, visually and seemed to spin well.

I cleaned out the oil and put it all back together and took her for a spin to check boost. Frick it's hard to keep 22/23 psi steady, without a serious infraction if I was tagged.

When I got home I still felt like tinkering so I made some end caps to test my system charge between the turbo outlet( right after turbo ) and the intake manifold.

Note to self and as a pre-emptive life lesson to others... covering the threads on abs caps so as to not scar the inside of the hoses does NOT provide adequate friction with silicone hose, even with t-bolts.

Luckily that cap shot clear of my vehicles and of secondary importance, my house and my body were also not in the path of the abs bullet.  I was surprised as it popped off when only between 5-10 psi, but I guess with the volume of the charge system 10 psi can pack some energy.

Moral of the story.... your turbo system in theory could be used, BUT should never be used, as a potato gun.

Oh... I took her out topless for a spin after, just to say I was sorry and I still love her and I will never put her in harms way through my idiocy again (well I promised to at least try).

It's up to 57 degrees today (finally!!).  Top down, heading out to do some shopping and to get a clay bar kit for the wife's ride.  Now if the rest of that snow would melt, I could get some yard work done too!  Mabey in May :(

Swapped the steering wheel out for the red & black Sky wheel, inadvertently snapped off my stubby antenna while trying to unscrew it, guess until I get out the EZ out, I'll have a super stubby....Opel antenna back in the to do queue...double checked all the wiring connections for the new WR, still can't get it to light up  :gaah:
and swapped ECMs, high idle and smoke returned, so back to stock for a while, until I talk to Lyndon. Time to take him out and have some fun!  :drive:

I had the same issue when I installed my WR a couple of years back.  My problems were all caused by the ground.  I took it off the suggested bolt and tried a different one in the same area and bingo!

That is odd about the Western Tuned ECM......possibly a bad ECM?  If someone has a copy of HPTuners locally, you could experiment with your stock ECM to see if that helps maybe?
